27 Tales Hospitality is a management company founded by David Switzer and Ryan McKenzie. We like telling stories through hospitality, and our childhood number 27 just magically started appearing in all of our projects, so here we are.

Ryan McKenzie and David Switzer met in 2017 when Patent Pending and Patent Coffee were still twinkles in their eyes. They quickly became good friends as well as business partners. In 2019 David opened up the now Michelin-starred, Rezdora with his chef partner Stefano, and Ryan opened up The Lab at Patent Pending. Together, with the talented Chef Carlos Chavarria at the helm, they opened seeyamañana, NoMad’s hottest lo-fi Mexican cocktail bar + restaurant.

Ryan’s background in hospitality runs the gamut. When he moved to New York City in 2010 he had a human resources tech company that serviced major restaurant groups across the country. He ideated and co-founded The Simmer Group in 2012, a hospitality-focused branding, design and advertising agency. It was at the Simmer Group he created Patent Pending, with the intent of showcasing work to clients (as well as offering up meeting for coffee at the cafe, or cocktails at the bar). He made the move to leave Simmer Group in 2019 to focus exclusively on operations and expanding the hospitality business. Since then he’s opened up seeyamañana, The Lab at Patent Pending, seeyabajo, and is now spending all his free time learning Greek.

David moved to New York City in 2017, after having a successful exit in his technology startup in Venice Beach, California. Through his real-estate dealings, he met the extremely skilled Chef Stefano, and together, the two of them opened up Rezdora - a Michelin-starred Italian restaurant just off Broadway in the buzzing NoMad district of NYC. David recently acquired another property in New York City, and with Chef Stefano will be opening an exciting new Italian pizza concept in the Winter of 2024. David is also spending his free time on what else, learning Greek.

Ryan and David are now teamed up and ready to take the knowledge, passion, and energy onto the next projects… first off, Agency of Record - opening inside the historic Renwick Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.

Along with NYC, they’re expanding internationally - into Greece, on the beautiful and bustling island of Syros in the Cyclades. They’ve acquired a garden mansion, and are in the process of acquiring a 10-bedroom complementary guest house, with plans to open both in Summer of 2024 - speaking at the very least, street-passible Greek.
